I have been studying and reading the messages on this forum for several months. My wife purchased a 98 w 318 miles. First mod was the spacer removal when I cleaned up the carb from sitting so long. The bike has run fine and my wife passed her endorsement test with flying colors, so I wanted to upgrade the exhaust. After reading the posts here, I chose a Jardine. I installed it yesterday, but I am disapointed in the backfire on decel and shifting only. I replaced the cylinder gasket and checked for leaks. All is good. I adjusted the air/fuel mixture, and improved the backfire situation.
Is there anyone who has sucessfully managed to eliminate (or virutually eliminate) the backfire? My only thought is to start trying various jets. We can live with pop-pop-pop, but the BANG-BANG is obnoxious.
Any help or "not-to's" would be appreciated.
